The practitioner

After graduating in Electrical Engineering, Kirit entered valuation in 1971 and passed the Direct Final Examination of the Institution of Surveyors (India). He built a lucrative practice in the metropolitan city of Mumbai and added steadily to his professional qualifications.

His work spans valuation for taxation, sale and purchase, compulsory acquisition, insurance, mortgage, mergers, acquisitions and financial reporting — for individuals, listed companies, banks and financial institutions, and government enterprises. He is also one of the founders of B&A Valuers, Sydney.

Selected milestones

  1. Enters the valuation profession at 24; qualifies with the Institution of Surveyors (India).

  2. Persuades Sardar Patel University to launch the Master of Valuation — the world's only degree in plant & machinery and real estate - first of its kind in India, later both RICS-accredited.

  3. Organises the first-ever international plant & machinery valuation conference in India.

  4. Becomes Founder Chairman of the International Plant & Machinery Valuation Conference Committee (IPMVCC).

  5. On invitation supports Shivaji University to launch First Master of Valuation in Real Estate in Distance Learning Mode (DLM)

  6. Guides ~4,000 pages of study material for the IBBI registered-valuer examinations, free to download.

  7. Honoured for outstanding contribution to the profession at the V20 Valuation Summit, Delhi.

Building the profession

  • Academia

    Framed the syllabi, chose the faculty and taught — honorary for a decade — to establish post-graduate valuation degrees at Sardar Patel and Shivaji Universities.

  • Regulation

    Convinced the CBDT to reduce the experience criterion for post graduate valuation degree-holders from ten years to two, and helped the IBBI build its examination system.

  • Global forum

    Founded and chaired the IPMVCC, contributed to International Valuation Standards, and lectured across four continents.
